Intent is the force of the will of a person behind a choice, that determines the quality of effect that an action has. It is our personal power which ensures that you reap as you sow and illustrates the underlying principle that by doing the same thing over and over yet expecting different results will still produce the same harvest.
It is important to change the intent behind a choice in order that an action may have the desired effect. Even if the choice is fundamentally the same one, if the intent behind it is different the result will be altered. Ultimately this leads to the modifying of the choices that are made and this will have the greatest impact upon the quality of result attained.
Intent is the sum of who a person is. It's his subjective sense of self, cumulative experiences and memories, his choices, expectations and present circumstances. Change to any aspect of these effect the quality of intent, and will have an interdependent and complexly dynamic relationship with the fruit of his actions in the work that he engages in.
You cannot change your life or yourself by simply wishing it, no matter how frequently you may do so, although the desire to change behind a wish does have an impact upon the strength of will and the quality of intent, be that a greater or lesser one. This is because we either feel empowered or we do not, confident in our goals or not, feel supported or not. But none of these will have as greater an impact on the process of bringing about change, than the quality of intent behind a choice and the subsequent action.
So it is the intent behind one's life or self, that is one's life and self as one takes them to be, that needs to change before one's life and self can change; and this is the ultimate chicken and egg scenario. We are the product of our lives and our lives are indistinguishable from who we take ourselves to be. It is a closed system repeating on itself producing the same results - a self fulfilling prophesy so to speak.
Clearly what we are looking for is a leverage point to pivot the dynamics of this system of self.
So how do we change the quality of our intent? By clearing it of all the clutter that bogs it down.
By sweeping it clean we meticulously cut out of our live those things that undermine the quality of our intent. We must vigorously scrub our intent of any obfuscations, debris, barnacles to the stern, and the flotsam and jestsome of life, so to speak, that cling to a person like the proverbial creeper or vine of self deciet, bad habits, lackadaisical attitudes, self weakness, indiscipline and such character destroying attributes, all of which have their basis in ego.
Ego is the root idea of who we think that we are or a past idea of who we used to be, which is embedded in our attachments to the people and things in our lives. It is a learned concept of self taught to us that effects how we relate to our world, through our social conditioning from the moment we were born. These things are the props and supporting roles on the stage of our lives.
This has come about because as children we are dependent upon the guidance and support of those around us to teach us what is important and what is good, and because when we grow up we retain a codependency upon these people and their ideas for our subjective sense of self.
We can unlearn, decondition and outgrow from these dependencies and thereby gain a greater latitude of behaviour and action in the world by superficially freeing ourselves from the opinions of others, but this doesn't undo the habituating intentions behind our behaviour. Not the 'how' we act dynamic but the 'why' we act dynamic, and this is driven by the need for approval and acceptance. Breaking from our habituated need to reinforce our sense of the world and self through acceptance and approval changes who we are fundamentally and not superficially.
This is why becoming all that we can be requires that we choose what reality we wish to live in and to act in accordance with that regardless of the opinions of others.
In short, what stops us from being, doing and achieving our best is the quality of self that we are able to bring to our lives' endeavours.
By examining lifestyle habits and routines enables a person to recognise and acknowledge that many ideas, beliefs, attitudes and behaviours that they regularly engage in are diminishing their self awareness and undermining their overall wellbeing.
By bringing these factors to the forefront of mind can help a person eliminate unhealthy thought patterns that have insidiously imposed and entrenched themselves into the psyche of the individual, forcing him to surrender control of his own mind to habituated responses to external stimuli that weaken the will power and the quality of intent that a person has.
To cultivate an impeccable intent requires a person to exercise will power and requires degrees of moderation towards those things that can make themselves weak minded. Eventually such things must be eradicated from our lifestyles altogether.
It's important to look at ourselves with naked vision unnadorned with tolerance towards or attachment to indulgence; or permissiveness towards pleasure. This requires that one do battle with the ego, the false self, which is the idea of who he/she is, implanted and reinforced over and over from the day he/she is born.
This is a process of denial and abstenance from intaking of substances harmful to our persons. This includes ingesting or otherwise taking into the body any substances whatsoever, until we fully reognise the risks that they impose upon our ability to oversee our best interests. Physically, mentally, emotionally and spiritually. It requires that we resist being unduly influenced in this regard; that we recognise authoritarianism and peer pressure for what it is, and to restrain ourselves from acting in a self destructive manner.
We must also be cogniscent that in society today one is not considered to be well adjusted until they have learned to lie to oneself and others without conscience, and thereby have come to believe their own as well as the lies of others. It is imperative that one realises that this is so deeply embedded in their own ideas of self and others that they are completely oblivious of this.
This state of cognitive dissonance was induced in the consciousness of the individual through endless repetition to the point where the truth is difficult to surmise. This was achieved through film, television, social media, mass media and constructive reinforcement through education, over countless generations of family members and ancestors.
It is important to understand that this was carried out against your best interests by the State or more appropriately, by the ruling classes of society, through programming involving childhood trauma, when you were too defenceless to protect yourself.
You have been completely brainwashed and indoctrinated into a view of the world that is false. Over a long period of deprogramming you will be able to overcome these effects, by and large, but most likely never completely. You have undergone a rigorous mental and emotional realignment and these effects are not easily overcome.
The regaining of your personal power is the single most important act of your life. It requires a bravery that you cannot begin to fathom but that in time you will be able to master.
Be patient with yourself. It's a long way home.
